Brawn and Brains

Honda have scooped Ross Brawn away from Ferrari (who were apparently unwilling to make him Team Principal).

Finally Nick Fry has done something right.

Nick Fry will remain as Chief Executive of Honda Racing which is better for him. He can look after the money business and Brawn can look after the racing.

What will this mean, for Alonso? Might he too be headed for Honda?

Comments:
PS. the 2008 car has already been designed so Ross will have his biggest impact on 2009. But never-the-less Honda will likely move forward next year.

The question now is, will Brawn be as good at Honda as he was at Ferrari? How much of his success there was down to his partnership with Schumacher and Todt? We'll probably never exactly know, but if Honda start winning races at the end of next year, we'll have learnt a lot...

Exactly!

One of the most interesting things to come out of Ferrari post Michael was that that Todt, Schumacher and Brawn had a daily meeting, unminuted, without anyone else being there where they decided together what the play within the firm would be.

All arguments were kept internal to the group, and they could present a united front. If you disagreed with them you'd be getting it in the neck from three sides. It's a good way to control an organisation like a Formula 1 team where so many people have part of the information.

Ross will need to replicate that situation quickly at Honda. The first move for him must be to work out what side to be on within the firm, and get the right people around him.
