Prodrive?
I don't know about you but i had forgotten about Prodrive entering the fray next year. Also i am reminded of the talk all over the place in the last few weeks about whether Alonso will stay at McLaren and what his options would be if he didn't, well what if Prodrive do go for the McLaren partnership, actually even if they don't they will still need some drivers, could this be an oppotunity for Alonso to have a team built around him?

I can't believe Alonso would leave McLaren after only a year - but Matt Bishop today says he probably will. However, surely his most likely destination is Renault now that BMW have announced their line-up?
Even if Prodrive had exactly the same car as next year's McLaren, I think they'll still be at least a second off the real McLaren's pace.

Yes it's unlikely.
According to the Autosport technical review Renault know exactly what they need to do solve the problem move the balast forward. The problem is that there isn't enough car at the front. They would need to redesign the whole chasis something that would be risky to do without enough testing time. The implication is that if they fix this problem they'd be back up the front. Perhaps that's something Alonso would be interested in.
