Number 2

This weekend Martin Brundle is having his usual Hungarian break and this
time his replacement is going to be Damon Hill.

We already know about the strong feelings on here about the lead
commentator and my guess is that most people rate Martin but who is your
favourite Number 2 other than Martin?

Amongst the contenders are: Jonathan Palmer, James Hunt, Peter Windsor
(in the states on Speed TV), Mark Blundel, Jenson Button and Anthony
Davidson. I'm sure there are loads more but I just wanted to get you
started.

Comments:
Has Ted Kravitz ever done it? I can't remember. Of course, though, he'd be better as a number 1.

I think Anthony Davidson did the job well enough, better than Blundell, because he had recent information about the cars and the drivers. Looking forward to Damon, though, and still stand by my hope for Jackie Stewart one day.

I think Anthony was the best, Blundell was the worst. He's best in the role he normally has (which is why despite his presence they've been getting others to do it).

Sadly Ted's been never given the chance, although he would be better as a lead, I wondered about Mark Hughes - perhaps it is time for him to come out from behind the shaddows? Although in a similar way to how I imagine Peter Windsor I immagine he'd be a bit dry in a live setting.

I think i'd agree Anthony Davidson was ok, Jonathan Palmer was ok too, but a bit more matter of fact, he did pronounce Schumacher properly though.

I'm looking forward to hearing Hill, he should be good.

I worry that Hill sometimes sounds a little monotone. Which might be a bit of a problem next to James. Next to Murray it probably would have been a welcome relief!
