if you won

An obscene amount of money would you consider following round the formula one circus for a year?

Comments:
I posed the question because I was asked it. And i found the answer interesting. My view was, "I'm not sure".

On the one hand I thought it was probably a great way to visit the worlds cities and cultures but on the other hand I felt that it is so selective and proscriptive as to certainly different to any sound the world trip I would plan myself (although i can see the advantages of being charmed by somewhere I didn't know I would like).

The other problem is that it's too long and too short a trip. A month away city hopping sounds great. A year away taking in the sites but experiencing much more of the countries you visit sounds even better. But this is kind of like an extended series of city breaks.

But the main reason for posting this was. If I'm not sure about it and I'd be on holiday the whole time. What must it be like for the circus themselves? They don't have their family with them and are working at very stressful jobs. And all of that travel! It must be pretty hellish. Different for the drivers and the team bosses I would think. But for the armies behind them it must be a very strange way to make a living.

Yes. Or, I'd go to a lot more than I currently do (zero).

If I won that amount of money I'd probably give up any notion of a job and become a writer. This can be done pretty much anywhere anytime, so travelling to a foreign city every other weekend wouldn't interupt that too much. In fact, it might help. You could write a Gonzo-type account of your experiences.

Moreover, if you wanted to do the whole visiting the world thing, you could do that in the two weeks between each Grand Prix - see all the countries between each destination. Or something like that. Maybe you could walk, or swim there?

But also, if I had a really obscene amount of money, I'd probably buy myself a team and hire myself as a driver for a year. Now that would be obscene.

I'd like to think i would go to a good few, but probably not all, maybe pick a handful each year to go to that are in/or near the places that i want to visit. Monaco, Melbourne and Japan would definately be on my list, plus Indy and Canada and a few European ones if there are any left by then!
