Where did all the chickens go?
Swiftcover were swiftly, and mysteriously, replaced by Shell as sponsors to itv-f1 - I don't think anyone here mentioned it. So what happened? I'm guessing that because the championship was attracting more and more viewers, due to the closeness of the battle between Alonso and Schumacher, a bigger sponsor stepped up and took over. But isn't it suspicious that they're also a sponsor and close ally of Ferrari?

I think this has happened before. In an odd move the Telegraph used to sponsor F1 which was really strange because it is one of the papers with the patchiest coverage. And as part of the deal Kevin Garside used to have the few articles that made it into the paper published on the itv website anyway. Which meant it was even more crazy. This deal stopped half way through the season I'm pretty sure. And others have too.
I think Texaco was the longest running with two years and obviously rivals Shell for potential bias.
But surely this can't be the worst situation? For a season ITV were sponsored by Toyota!
