Autosport frees up

I just received an email from autosport.com's editor-in-chief saying that as of tomorrow news stories on his website will be free to read. There will still be pay content (worth subscribing to, I should add), but the most important part - the headlines - are yours now for nothing.

The most interesting section of the email, however, was the claim that the reason for doing this was that autosport.com was now the best F1 website on the internet. Do you agree? I certainly think it is - the news arrives there sometimes a day before it does on itv-f1.com, and the race reports are much more detailed. A swinger in the debate has to be the terrible 'Italian GP Preview' on itv-f1.com at the moment which tells you nothing about the race at all.

Comments:
I think part of the problem with the itv-f1 site is that it is so proscribed. Only the "faces of ITV" get to have features but the guys who work on the site don't get to have any articles for themselves even though they clearly have opinions (which may or may not be worth hearing).

But Simon Strang and the rest can't just write a features article. They have to wait until they get a chance to comment on one of the subjects they are allowed to write on (normally just up coming races or news events) and then they have to shoe-horn in everything else.

Any of them wanting to write for SofaF1 are more than welcome to come forward - as is anyone else.

Send an e-mail to alex@sofaf1.com - the pay is non existant but you'll never have an article spiked.
