Michael gets stuffed in Turkey

He should have been on pole, he should have won the race, and he should have over-taken Alonso. I'm not certain, but I think Michael just lost the championship. If he can't overtake Alonso in a faster car on a track designed for over-taking, with his team-mate 10 seconds off in the distance, then something's wrong. Perhaps he just doesn't like the track, but World Champions can't afford to not like tracks. They must be great everywhere. I'm not exactly sure what this post is about other than Michael caught onto the back of Alonso with about 15 laps to go, and I think it's very significant that he couldn't get past: Alonso drove amazingly, and Michael poorly.

Has Ross Brawn lost his hunger?

I agree with you that Michael should have done better than that, I really think that he should have been able to overtake Alonso. He made mistakes. But actually Alonso made mistakes too and if you're in a faster car and the man in front of you makes mistakes then you know what to do - and Michael seemed to let him off every time.

I mentioned Ross at the top because I think that Ferrari are 2 points away now from taking the lead from Renault of the constructors. But they also know how important the drivers is. I don't think that in the past they would have let Massa win.

Two things seemed odd. First I think that to make Michael win they normally would have been willing to have destroyed Massa's race, and they could have taken that opertunity by not pitting Massa at the safety car. You can't tell me they haven't done much worse things before. But actaully they took the normal balanced approach which has cost their rivals in the past.

Second, I'm suprised they didn't move Massa back into the clutches of Alonso. If Massa went backwards they could have made it much more difficult for Alonso to get away from Michael on the fast parts of the track and then Micahel could have more easily caught him in the slow corners.

I'm not suggesting that either of these options are fair or something I would condone particularly. But the fact they didn't do them says to me that Ross has lost something of what he used to have about him - an absolute bloodymindedness about Michael winning no matter how unpopular it made them look.
